Outside the City

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

Golden sunlight over the ridge

Misty fog rolls down the bridge

Fresh-smelling dew on petalled stem

Eerie quiet that blankets the glen

Mother and fawn nibble the grass

A hawk overhead will lazily pass

Mischievous squirrel rustles the trees

Cotton-like motes float on the breeze

Meadows are speckled with waking blooms

Dragonflies soon dart and zoom

Where land and creatures dwell befriended

May one day we live as nature intended…
