The 99%

We are inequality

The breaking back they do not see

A life that’s plagued with drudgery

The “poor man’s” king, a wannabe

Beset with invisibility

And yet we covet furtively

Afraid to wish too greedily

For wealth acquired stealthily

Is that which plagues society

And scales that tip egregiously

In favour of a family tree

That hoarded quite sadistically

Acquired so successfully

The means to take dishonestly

And live, if not quite happily

At least protect their legacy

We can’t ignore with apathy

That change won’t come and finally

Allowing those in poverty

The right to life of dignity

In world as fair as it is free

A pipe dream? No! Our destiny!
