The Farmer's Market

Writer's picture: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

Enjoy the farmer’s market

As we take in nature's bounty

Spread out on gingham tables

There’s one in every county

Line up for kettle popcorn

Or a twist of deep-fried dough

You sample almost everything

A child treads on your toe

It's a summertime tradition

For the weekend’s incomplete

Without a slow meander

Looking for a tasty treat

Your hemp bag’s full of produce

It’s respect to home and farm

But my favourite’s still the popcorn

A warm bag beneath each arm

A bustling thriving market is

A haven for weekenders

It’s farm-fresh food for dinner

And it’s thanks to local vendors!
