I speak of Origami when
I think of craft enchanting
The art of paper folding is
A thing I find so daunting!
An artform that for centuries
Has dazzled and confounded
Makes objects of complexity
From folds and pleats compounded
I bow to all the skill it takes
It’s like a magic act
A slip of paper deftly crimped
Yet wholly left intact!
I know not what the mind must do
How one prepares and plans
For every crease and tuck and turn
Fantastic sleight of hand
It takes the patience of a saint
With awesome spatial ability
To coax form from a formless plane
What massive mental agility
It’s like a form of alchemy
How artisans will labour
A conjuring extraordinaire
From humble piece of paper!
