Blue Jay

Noisy and garrulous nature

A prosy and prattling caw

Belies the most lovely of plumage

Of the sweetest bird I ever saw

The prominent blue-crested jaybird

Is not from a pigment, but light

Structured uniquely its feathers

Amazed how the blue flashes bright

A clever, intelligent mimic

With a curious fun disposition

They’ll happily steal shiny baubles

As if on a sneaky spy mission!

So noisy, so bold and aggressive

We welcome their unruly charm

Quite happy its distinct impulsion

Protects other creatures from harm

Cyanocitta cristata bromia

They flit between mischief and good

How I attend to your loveable chortle

And would join you in play if I could!
