Strength in the face of pain or grief
To give support and hope
To bolster confidence at times
When others cannot cope
It’s dauntlessness and hardihood
It’s sheer temerity
Our benevolence when struggling
Sets apart humanity
These days it seems in short supply
In many it is lacking
Replaced by quite the opposite
When odds against are stacking
It takes a moral fortitude
To stand up and be counted
To withstand danger and all threats
When defenses must be mounted
I do believe we’ll find our way
That we’re stalwart to our core
And can summon troves of courage too
Should storms land on our shore
