Never forget they were children
They have faces of pure flesh and blood
Give families respect for their mourning
Raise the whole from their prison of mud
Give more than a page in a journal
Or the truth to their stories be spurned
Do not come with ribbons or trimmings
Let the scars on this landscape be burned
Time will not temper the anger
That has simmered in secret too long
The lives that were snuffed out like candles
Instead should ascend like a song
For decades they’ve laid undiscovered
Uncovered, gives light to our shame
Now honour the souls of these children
With dignity, enshrine every name
