There is a poet much admired
Irreverence that’s so inspired
He could write with lark and wit
He would make you choke and spit
His wordplay often cut so sharp
Without a sense of nag or carp
Such a clever prankster he
Could satirize with skillful glee
Beware of that which garnered praise
For nothing’s safe from Nash’s gaze
Skewered, picked at, scrutinized
Observations in veiled disguise
And yet you always yearned for more
For humour never is a bore
And poems that give us a laugh
That trip our tongues with every gaff
Provide relief when life’s a mess
And keeps us sane with silliness!
