The Rat and The Cheese

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

A rat and a cheese fell deeply in love

Fitting together like hand in a glove

They showed that no matter

Their colour or creeds

They swore true devotion

And fulfilled all their needs

Most thought them crazy

Rolled their eyes, shouted “Please!

There are no relations

'Tween beast and a cheese!"

Despite this indifference

The love they had flourished

For one was the nourishment

And the other was nourished

The rat and the cheese attests love can endure

No matter what others believe or prefer

Stay steadfast in purpose

Be determined yet kind

For this tale of commitment

Proves that love's truly blind
