If in August rest you take
To decompress, to have a break
Enjoy the best that summer offers
Do away with work-day bothers
Gather with your family
Too often time is rarely free
Feel not compelled to fill your day
With undone chores you’ve kept at bay
Nor try to squeeze in scheduled fun
Or take on wants from anyone
You’re on vacation so wrap it up
If you’re fatigued go nap it up!
Life is busy and obligated
Nerves get frayed, obliterated
Even two weeks every year
Is barely time to make heads clear
So be indulgent with YOUR needs
Unchoke the spirit’s field of weeds
It’s your respite, do as you please
We all need recharged batteries!
