Reflecting off the withered leaf
Moonrise after sun has set
Ensuring farmer’s needs are met
For days in row this ghostly sphere
Stays full and round, bright and clear
Keeps its place in Heaven’s dome
Marking path that leads one home
Parallel to earth’s horizon
Not far to turn, the moon seems frozen
Its longer arc across the sky
Centers orb in watchful eye
Excess light at peak of harvest
At last quarter, comes to rest
Unswerving as a sentinel
