Love Hangover

Writer's picture: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

The day after Valentines, the sun dawned the brightest

Making my brain feel it’s screwed on the tightest

My head and my wallet are feeling the pain

It may be from drinking too much cheap champagne

We started out slowly, the tiniest sips

We loved how the bubbles would tickle our lips

Staring in eyes as the night lingered on

We drank and we drank, till both were long gone

I’m not even sure if we bothered to eat

In bliss left alone playing footsies with feet

The staff were impatient, so called us a cab

Don’t worry we made sure to clear up our tab

But just how we made it, inside, to the bed

Is memory I simply don’t have in my head

I can tell you the night is one far from X-rated

‘Cause now all I wish, may I please be sedated!

Keep drapes drawn in mercy and shut them up tight

I need some relief from the “joy” of last night

It took Valentines, for me, to discover

Indeed one can suffer a true love hangover!
