Demur, sedate, at most slight pique
That’s what makes us, up north, unique
We might lose temper, now and then
But we’re polite, Canadienne
They thought think us quiet, unassuming
But oh within, what storm clouds looming
Who says we’re not that patriotic
They think restraint made us myopic?
They poked and woke this sleeping bear
And found out, that indeed, we care
Regret they will they picked this fight
As proud our flag waves, red and white
We will not be intimidated
Their fault you underestimated
We’ll keep our cash and cancel trips
Eat only Old Dutch Ketchup chips!
We’ll leave their bourbon on the shelf
And ship our oil to someone else!
They can’t make us bend to their will
They thought us weak with too much chill
They thought they’d push ‘cause we’re too nice
Our hot blood flows like skates on ice
It might have taken orange-tinged clown
To make us finally stand our ground
They thought we’d fall like chopped down tree
But stand we do, on guard for thee!
