Winter's End

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

Much like a snake that sheds its skin

Emerge we do from sleep we’re in

The doldrums that the winter brought

Are kissed goodbye and shaken off

The sun shines down and melts the ice

Through window smells of spring entice

The slush and puddles dirty brown

Will soon be sucked into the ground

The final snow drifts sprout with green

There’s vigor in most everything

Away the listlessness we send

As long last winter meets its end…
