A message that we need to hear
Should drown out hopelessness and fear
- Be who you are and nothing else
Be constant to your one true self
There’s little under your control
So knowing deep within your soul
In everything you say and do
Are your beliefs, what makes you, You
Though wicked forces interlope
Try very hard to dash all hope
Attempt to keep you in lockstep
Though they in charge seem so inept
Ruled by their tiny lizard brain
Be rebel with a smile restrained
Throw wrench in gears that grind with spite
Expose the scum to cleansing light
Take nips and bites that start out small
Until there’s nothing left at all
But naked despot, uncrowned knave
For never were they strong or brave
Pull rug out from their pampered feet
Then toss them out into the street
And kicked to curb with roused refrain
“We will not let you rise again!”
