Too Dark Too Soon

The earmark of hallowed fall

Shorter days and longer nights

Time is slowing to a crawl

Crisp air chases birds in flight

Sun takes time to rise in morn

Pretending ever to be demur

I fight the urge to feel forlorn

And resist the call to wake and stir

Like a clock that never fails

Like loyal sun and faithful moon

The Autumnal equinox prevails

Its calling card: Too Dark Too Soon
