Twenty-First Century Prayer

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

Now I lay me down to sleep

And hope my mind won’t spiral deep

I need my rest from busy day

And long for pillow soft to lay

The summer sun exhausted so

Wilted, as we lingered, though

Our souls are spent from drenching heat

But from good work we ease replete

So thankful for capacious light

Allows us to prepare for night

Satisfied we did our best

And earned our claim to decent rest…
