Good Friends

The tears that fall, are meant to cleanse

As if to heart we make amends

The burdens borne without release

Break us down slowly, piece by piece

When seeking solace all alone

The pain so sharp as if knife honed

Will pierce that shield until it’s gone

And nothing’s left you may lean on

So do not stop yourself from asking

It is no bother you are tasking

The village that surrounds will hold

As gentle hands around you fold

For good that’s given, kindness drawn

This synergy we build upon

Benevolence will drown out greed

And grant us strength in time of need

Away from sorrow you will ride

With trusted ally by your side

Tears still may fall, but will not stay

For loving hand shall wipe away

Ensuring comfort to your core

To me, that’s what good friends are for…
