Perplexity, Promise and Potential

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

I love the word Perplex

I find it often describes

The way I feel when I get

A hint of current world vibes

The lessons we learned in the past

Are thrown out the window and then

We act as if nothing bad happened

And do the dumb things all again

The human condition is varied

We’re born, we mature then we die

So simple, but man can we screw up

And there is no damn good reason why

So I suggest that you navigate life

Not as naïve more as skeptic

Inclined we’re to aptly ask questions

Rather than blindly accept it

Yet it’s okay if we fumble a little

It’s not that I think we’re a mess

But how I do wish we’d live up to

The potential I know we possess…
