Speaking Truth

Writer's picture: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

You know what I would really like?

What means so much to me?

If people showed respect with truth

How refreshing it could be!

To speak with candor is an art

A gift that few possess

To communicate with honesty

And natural openness

The gain we’ll get from knowing that

Our actions have effect

Both negative and positive Be willing to accept!

I will admit there’s time and place

When truthfulness might wound

Maturity will set the tone

It’s the “knowing” then the “doing”

But argue I, the world be helped

With more sincerity

Waste no more time on fixing rifts

Wrought through dishonesty!
