Surviving the Holidays

The hole-iest of days
Are the ones with swiss cheese
Used shopping bags
Have you wrapping with ease
Pennies and oranges
Make fun and cheap gifts
Highballs and cocktails
Give “spirits” a lift!
The jolly fat man
Who delivers your parcels
Works for Fed Ex
And has weak metatarsals
The friends you avoid
Might be coming to see you
May inclement weather
Hail down hard and free you!
‘Cause sometimes the season
That has all feeling joy
Brings nothing but nuisance
And the means to annoy
Just put your head down
And you’re sure to survive
By the end of the month
You’ll still be alive
Frazzled from feasting
Yet secretly sated
The holiday's over
Finally, you're elated!
