The Bird Bath

Writer's picture: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

It cools the bird and quenches thirst

Down one swoops to be the first

A placid pool that’s so inviting

Through my window, I hope for sighting

A blue jay, magpie, sleek black raven

All seeking out this wellspring haven

I love the frisky water play

Refreshing as they dunk and spray

It’s more essential as the weather

Overheats their down and feather

We must ensure oasis beckons

Providing more than bright reflection

Restoring dip will respite bring

Whose plumage needs a moistening!
