The Prairie Sky

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

How soft the morning light now shines

Impatient me, why take its time?

Get up, get busy, burn much brighter

It’s not like sun pulled an all-nighter

It’s getting lots of time to rest

The dawn is sunshine at its best!

No matter if there’s chill in air

I find it easier to bear

When sky is full of warming rays

Even on the coldest days

I’d rather suffer frosty dew

Than live without the cobalt blue

Of cloudless prairie boundless sky

Horizon low, but spirit high!!
